Declaring that he will be leaving Liverpool at the end of this season, Jurgen Klopp unleashed a shock. He attributed his decision to a loss of energy. Although his contract was supposed to last until the end of the 2025–2026 season, Klopp has chosen to end it early.
In a statement released by the team on Friday, Klopp said he loved everything about Liverpool the city, the fans, the players and the staff. He stressed that his choice to go is the result of realizing that his vitality is diminishing, notwithstanding this fondness.
Klopp promised that he has been informed of this change for some time, even if he acknowledged that many people may be surprised by the news. He clarified, “I have no problem now, obviously, I knew it already for longer that I will have to announce it at one point, but I am absolutely fine now.”
Looking back on his time with the team, Klopp said, “After the years we had together and after all the time we spent together and after all the things we went through together, the respect grew for you, the love grew for you, and the least I owe you is the truth and that is the truth.”
Along with elite development coach Vitor Matos, Liverpool has also revealed the departure of assistants Pepijn Lijnders and Peter Krawietz, who will also be leaving in the next summer.
